Dear Students & Parents,
First of all, I want to thank you for all your kind wishes. I am recovering well and I can’t wait to share pictures of my new bundle of joy with you the next time we see each other at English Matters.
Following the nationwide lockdown (MCO), the Ministry of Education has directed all educational institutions to revert to online learning for two weeks after the upcoming Hari Raya holiday. We will hopefully return to the centre as soon as the MCO is lifted.
Being a parent myself, I can understand that a handful might be worried about the efficacy of online learning. Given our excellent track record since MCO 1.0- maintaining high teaching standards in online classes is not an easy feat, but it is just what we do and promise to deliver at English Matters.
The teachers have been working hard to create and convert all lesson plans into engaging online multimedia content. Granted that there may have been some technical hiccups at the start of the online classes last year, but as we progressed, both students and teachers have now gotten the hang of things!
Last weekend, we saw a 97% online attendance rate with only 3 students having technical issues-which were resolved promptly. I want to take this opportunity to thank the EM team for stepping up while working remotely in the safety of their own homes. Thank you all.
Moving forward, I would also like to thank you for appreciating the importance of consistency in education. We are humbled to see the handful who couldn’t join last year, return to us again even as we resume classes online. Let me reaffirm our commitment to raising the bar of excellence in delivering our lessons, and we truly appreciate your active involvement and commitment to reciprocate.
We have some exciting new courses when we return to the centre this June, another exciting contest with more amazing prizes, and new teachers to introduce to our EM family as we grow together in 2021.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us at EM should you have any questions, ideas or concerns. We are just a whatsapp message or call away! Stay safe through the holidays. Follow all the SOPs and remember, the best vaccine is the one readily available to you!
Have a good break and I will see you virtually when our online classes resume after the Hari Raya holiday. Selamat Hari Raya dan Maaf Zahir dan Batin.
Regards,
Ms Nas,
Principal.
